- I hear some people calling the PTA "PAL", what is that and why? PAL stands for Partners in Academic Learning and it was what we used to call the PTA. It was always a bit confusing to explain and so we changed to a "PTA" which is something most people are familiar with and needs no explanation. The PTA/PAL is the parent-teacher organization at East Wake Academy. We are here to provide support to our students, teachers and staff of EWA. Our membership drive, student annual dress down passes, and fundraisers have provided security features, technology upgrades, classroom supplies, teacher appreciation treats and much more for East Wake Academy!
- Why should I join PTA? Simple! For the teachers and your kids. All money that is raised goes right back into the classroom and the school. As mentioned above your money helps us fund family events, teacher grants, classroom supplies, security and technology upgrades to our school.
- That sounds great! How do I join the PTA and how much does it cost? Easy as 1, 2,3!! Click on the logo on our home page and fill out the form. The cost is $10 per family and $5 for EWA staff members
- How long do I have to join the PTA? All school year. We have a membership drive at the beginning of the school year but we happily welcome new members anytime.
- What exactly is an annual dress down pass and why does my child(ren) need one? Glad you asked. The annual dress down pass is by far the most popular fundraiser amongst the students! When you buy the pass your child will get to wear whatever they want to school on a specific day each month that is set by PTA . Clothing on dress down days must follow the non uniform dress code.
- How do I get an annual dress down pass for my child(ren)? Our Annual Pass can be found under the Parent tab OR in our spirit store. You have until the first dress down day to purchase the annual pass online.
- Do I need an annual pass for each child or does one cover the whole family? You must purchase a pass for each child.
- How much does it cost to get an annual dress down pass? The recommended donation is $40 per child which covers all 10 dress down days.
- If I cannot buy the annual pass is there another option? YES! You may purchase a pass by sending cash on the day of dress down or prior to dress down online through our donations tab. The requested donation is $4 per child for the day.
- When will my child(ren) get their pass? They will not receive an actual pass. We will keep a list of all those who have purchased the annual pass and pass this list to teachers and administration.
- Can I join just pay for dress down and not join the PTA? Absolutely. You are not required to join the PTA to pay for the PTA dress down pass.
- How long do I have to get an annual dress down pass? The Tuesday before the first dress down day (we must have time to get the list to administration)
- Where can I find a list of Dress Down Days? There is a button on the home page which lists all dress down days for the year.
- I placed a Spirit Store order and forgot to put my child's information for delivery, what do I do now? Do not panic! Simply send an email to [email protected] and let us know your child's name, grade and homeroom teacher.
